CYBERJAYA: Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd has been ordered to immediately cease its short-messaging system (SMS) promotion contest "Celcom 100 Days 100 Cars", following public complaints.

In issuing the order, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission told Celcom to refund all charges incurred by subscribers, who took part in the SMS contest, and to duly notify them.

It also gave Celcom until Monday to provide it with a written explanation.

The commission investigated the complaints and found that there were elements of non-compliance with the general consumer code of practice under the Communications and Multimedia Act, 1998.
