PETALING JAYA: A restaurant owner in SS3/31 claimed that he was told to pay more duit kopi by an Alam Flora contractor if he wanted his second rubbish bin to be cleared.

Loo Yong Wee claimed that two years ago, an Alam Flora contractor told him to pay RM50 if he wanted his "extra" garbage to be collected.

"He told me that he would only pick four bags of garbage a day and if there's extra garbage, I would have to pay RM50. Now he has increased the price to RM80 a month," Loo claimed.

"I was informed of the new 'rate' on June 2 by the contractor. I refused to pay any more and approached state assemblyman Lau Weng San for assistance."

Lau said that, "from the Alam Flora website, I found that the company engaged to collect rubbish in SS3/31 is City Waste Disposal Sdn Bhd."

He also expressed his dissatisfaction over the cleanliness of the drains in the neighbourhood, especially along Jalan SS 3/ 35.

"The drains are badly clogged and the residents are unhappy with Alam Flora," said Lau.

He said it was time for Alam Flora to review its contractors' performance.

"I will highlight this problem in the state assembly if there is no improvement."
