By : M. Ganeshadeva, Kuala Lumpur I REFER to the news reports, “Number of people cheated alarming” and “Chance at big win clouds judgment” (NST, Oct 1). The statistics on complaints received by the National Complaints Centre and the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry relating to direct sales, including time-sharing and scratch-and-win transactions, is alarming. The ministry’s move to look into the legality of the scratch-and-win transactions with a view to banning them, and its move to adopt a comprehensive approach towards the direct-selling industry, is timely and commendable. There is nothing wrong with that, but such ambitions should be pursued in a lawful way backed by hard work.
