KUCHING: Consumers in Sibu will have to fork out more for pastries while those here will have to pay more for a bowl of noodles and other cooked food from today.

A group of confectionery outlets in Sibu have announced revising the prices of pastries by 20% to offset the rising costs of raw materials.

They claimed that the price of flour has gone up twice last month, with a 25kg bag now costing RM50 as compared with RM38.50 in January.

In the state capital, a bowl of kolo mee, which many people take for their breakfast, will cost at least 20sen more.

The price increase for cooked food came after 20 manufacturers in Kuching and Samarahan divisions decided to increase the wholesale prices of the noodles by 20% per kilo.
